Staff from the CGIAR Fund Office, CGIAR ICT-KM, and the Collective Action program organized and managed a large CGIAR booth at the African Agriculture Science Week marketplace during FARA's 5th General Assembly. The events were held in Ouagadougou from July 19 - 24, 2010. The theme for this year's gathering was "African Agricultural Innovation in a Changing Global Climate".
The week was comprised of various events such as the marketplace, "open space" discussions, Burkina Faso Day, CAADP day, a Ministerial Roundtable, the FARA plenary session and finally FARA's business meeting. The CGIAR hosted discussion meetings on "The New CGIAR", the Mega Program on Fish and Livestock, "Agricultural Biodiversity in Africa", "CGMap of Ongoing Research in Africa", and a session on “enhancing the accessibility of research outputs through more coherent knowledge centres and networks” during the Share Fair on Networking Tools.
More than 650 participants and delegates attended the meetings, including ministers from the African continent, and leaders of international organizations such as AGRA. Burkina Faso's President, H.E. Blaise Compaore opened the plenary session.
